Mrs. Martha Casler Dies In Hawarden: Burial In LeMars

Mrs. Martha Alice Casler, 74, of Craig died Wednesday, Nov. 14, at Hawarden after a lingering illness. Funeral services will be held at the Mauer funeral chapel Friday, Nov. 16 at 2 p.m. Rev. W. K. Schmidt of Craig will officiate and burial will be in the city cemetery.

Mrs. Casler was born Feb. 11, 1877, at Woodbine, Ill., the daughter of Hugh H. (sic--Hugh R.) and Ellen Caldwell Hughes. She moved to LeMars when seven and lived most of her life in the LeMars and Merrill vicinity.

Her marriage to William H. Casler took place March 25, 1903 in LeMars. After his death she lived with a daughter at Craig and has been making her home the past six months in Hawarden.

Others preceding her in death were her parents, two sisters and five brothers.

Surviving are a son, George Casler of Sioux City and five daughters: Mrs. Lyle (Mildred) Galland of Craig, Mrs. O. T. (Elva) Jaynes of Sioux City, Mrs. Ed (Cora) Utesch of LeMars, Mrs. Cleve (Ruth) Waite of Port Huneme, Calif., and Mrs. Bernard (Mary Ellen) Swartzkopf of Brookings, S. D.

Others surviving include 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, a brother, George Hughes of Paxton (sic--Haxtun), Colo., and one sister, Mrs. Clara Hendricksen (sic--Henricksen) of Alhambra, Calif.
