Chris Onnen, a resident of Akron and vicinity for many years, passed away at this home here Monday morning, May 18, 1925, at 7:45 o'clock, aged 63 years 8 months and 11 days. About a year ago he suffered a partial strike of paralysis and another one earlier this spring. The final and fatal stroke came Saturday evening. His friend, Robert Knecht, called at the house to see him and discovered lying unconscious in the yard. Just when he was stricken cound not be told, for Mr. Onnen did not regain consciousness before the end came. John Christian Onnen was born in Ardorf, Germany, September 7, 1861, where he was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. On May 4, 1884, he married Miss Louisa Martsfeld, and the same year they came to America, locating in Grant Township, Plymouth County, Iowa. Their union was blessed with six sons and three daughters. the family moved to a farm in Westfield Township, this county, where Mrs. Onnen died February 1. 1909. After her death, Mr. Onnen moved to a farm near Morris, Minnesota, where he lived for eight years and then moved to Akron, where he has since resided. One son and one daughter preceded their parents to eternity. The five sons and two daughters surviving are: John and Christian Onnen of Morris, Minnesota; William, Fred, and Richard Onnen and Mrs. John Huls of Akron vincinity, and Mrs. John Amundson, of Westfield Township. One brother and one sister of Mr. Onnen reside in Germany. There are nineteen grandchildren. Mr. Onnen was a upright, honorable and hard-working citizen, esteemed highly by all who know him: a kind and devoted husband and father and good neighbor. He will be much missed by many friends, who extend sympathy to the bereaved family.

There was a large attendance at the funeral services held this (Thursday) afternoon at 2:00 at Trinity Lutheran Church, conducted by Reverend F. A. Meske. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery.
