CALLED BY DEATH LAST SATURDAY

Rites for Revered Plymouth County Pioneer Woman are held Monday.

Mrs. Henry Huls, aged 83, a well-known and revered pioneer of western Plymouth County, passed away at the home of her son-in-law, E. Siebens, in Johnson Township, Saturday, October 23, 1937, after an illness of several weeks.

Rinnie Margaret Huls was born at Riepe, Germany, on June 14, 1854, where she grew to young womanhood, and was married in her native place to Heinrich T. Huls on April 11, 1875. Twelve children came to bless their union. She and her husband came to America in 1882, settling in Illinois, and came to western Plymouth County in 1893, engaging in farming for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband and two children. She leaves five sons and five daughters, Mrs. Gasky Siebens, of Akron, Iowa; Mrs. Fannie Mangelson, of Shell Lake, Wisconsin; Mrs. Kate Meinjohans, of Alcester, South Dakota; Mrs. Rena Hein, of Junius, South Dakota; Mrs. Ida Friske, of Lake Crystal, Minnesota; Henry Huls, of Le Mars, Iowa; John Huls, of Akron, Iowa; Esdert Huls, of Westfield, Iowa; Chris Huls, of Lake Crystal, Minnesota; Alex Huls of Shell Lake, Wisconsin; fifty-three grandchildren and fifty great-grandchildren; also two brothers in Germany. Mrs. Huls was a fine Christian woman, interested in chruch work and community life. She was active until her last years, and prior to her final sickness lived for some years with Mrs. Nick Molzen, of Johnson Township, and took her share of the daily round of life on the farm. Grandma Huls will be greatly missed in the community where she spent so many years of her useful life.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in the Preston Township, Theo. Meyer, assisted by Rev. Fred A. Meske. Interment was in the Preston Township Cemetery, beside her husband, who departed this life, June 6, 1915.

Those attending the funeral from a distance were: Mr. & Mrs.Will Hein, and son, of Junius, South Dakota; Mr. & Mrs. Ed Friske, and family of Lake Crystal, Minnesota; Mr. & Mrs. Chris Huls, and family, of Lake Crystal, Minnesota; Mr. & Mrs. Henry Meinjohans, and family, of Alcester, South Dakota; Mr. & Mrs. Alex Huls, of Shell Lake, Wisconsin; Mr. & Mrs. Herbert Jones, of Atlantic, Iowa; Chris & Martha Siebens, Good Thunder, Minnesota; Henry Janssen, Mr. & Mrs. Lawrence Stumpf, and daughter, of Worthington, MInnesota.
