Katherine Singer Claimed By Death

Gold Star Mother And Legion Member

Death claimed Mr. Catherine Singer, 77, resident of this community for fifty-five years, at her home, 400 Second Avenue NW, Tuesday after a lingering illness.

She was the wife of the late Leonard Singer, prominent farmer in Union and Lincoln townships for many years.

Mrs. Singer was born at Kenosha, Wis., January 28, 1864, where she grew up and was married.

Mr. and Mrs. Singer farmed for thirty-four years after coming to Plymouth county then came to Le Mars to live.

Mrs. Singer was preceded in death by her husband, one son, Edward, who died in service during the World War, and a daughter, Mrs. August Byers.

She is survived by five sons and three daughters, Urban, Clarence, Albert, of Le Mars, Francis of Remsen, Jack Singer, of Des Moines, Mrs. Will Schuldt and Miss Millie Singer of Le Mars and Mrs. Ben Byers of Moville, a brother, Matt Mader, of Kenosha, Wis., and a sister, Mrs. Anna Watson, of Chicago, Ill. There are twenty-one grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Mr. Singer died in July, 1930.

Mrs. Singer was a Gold Star Mother and a member of the American Legion auxillary.

Funeral Friday Morning

The funeral will be held Friday morning at 9:30 in St. Joseph church and interment made in St. Joseph cemetery.

The pallbearers will be Jas. Burns, Al Meis, John Shea, George Sheehan, Jas. Schroeder, Frank Trafford.
