Pioneer Resident Goes to His Reward

Kasper Freking, Pioneer Farmer, Dies Sunday

Kasper Freking, a resident of this community for many years, died Sunday afternoon, February 19, at his home in Stanton township, after a long illness through which he was a patient sufferer.

Kasper Freking was born November 9, 1863, in Damma, Oldenburg, Germany, and came to this country when 19 years of age. He worked in Nebraska, Kansas, and eastern Iowa before settling in Plymouth county in his present location where he lived for 34 years.

Mr. Freking was married Feb. 16, 1897, at St. Joseph's Catholic church in Le Mars to Anna Deters, who survives him, Rev. Father Herman Meis officiating at the marriage.

The nine children who survive are Caroline, Joseph, Bernard, Gregory, Agnes, Leo and Francis at home, John and Mrs. Leo Haverkamp, of Remsen. He is also survived by three grandchildren and a brother, Henry Freking.

His parents. two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

Mr. Freking was a faithful member of the Catholic church and affiliated with the Holy Name and St. Joseph societies.

The funeral services at St. Joseph's Catholic church at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, February 22, will be in charge of Msgr. J. D. Fisch and burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery, with Wiltgens in charge.
