Death Takes Old Settlers
Ben Fisher of Washington Township Succumbs to Long Illinois
Ben Fisher, a resident of Plymouth county since boyhood, died at his home in Washington township at an early hour Wednesday morning following a long illness at the age of 54. years, 8 months and 15 days. Mr- Fisher was. taken sick last October and was confined to bed until the time of his death. He was at a sanitarium n Sioux City for ten weeks, suffering from paralysis, which affected his body from the waist down. He was uncomplaining during his long sickness and relapsed into unconsciousness two days before the end.
Ben Gerdes Fisher was born in Germany in 1874 and came to this country when: a youth of sixteen. He was engaged in farming all his life- He was united in marriage with Dena Siebens in 1896. Ten children were born to them . One preceded him in death .
He leaves to mourn his death his wife and nine children who are Mrs. Henry Cramer, Mrs. Martin Vanderham. Mrs. Hermann Weyen, Ben and William all living in this vicinity; Tillie, Harm, Hannah and Louise live at home. There are five grandchildren. He also leaves five brothers and a sister, Reinhard, of LeMars; William and Antone, in Canada; Gerhard of Clarkson, Wash.; Harm Fisher, in California,; and Lizzie, living in Idaho.
The funeral will be held from the home at 2 o'clock this Friday afternoon and services will be at the Christ Lutheran church at Mammen. Rev, Schempf of Brunsville, and Rev. I D Meyer, of Mammen, officiating.
Mr. Fisher was widely known through his long residence in the county and had a large number of friends.
