Gus Witt, 83, Claimed by Death
Funeral services for August Witt, 83, who died Monday evening, October 27, 1952, at the Zimmerman Home in LeMars, will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Mauer Funeral Home.
The Rev. Ward Campbell will conduct the service and burial will be in the City Cemetery.
Mr. Witt is survived by his son, Lester of LeMars; two grand children, Eldred Morrissey of Mount Vernon, Iowa, and Linda Witt of LeMars; three great grandchildren and three brothers, Charles, Fred and William living in Nebraska.
His wife, the former Nellie Ewin and a daughter, Minnie, preceded him in death.
Born February 2, 1869, at Chicago, Ill., Mr. Witt was well known in LeMars, where he made his home after retiring from farming. Also, he served for many years as a part-time police officer here.

August Witt of 300 4th Ave. S.E. passed away at the Zimmerman Memorial Home on October 27, 1952, after a sickness lasting five years. He has been bedridden since January this year.
August Witt was born February 2, 1869, in Chicago and was a retired farmer. He was a part time local policeman here for many years. He was 83 years, 8 months and 25 days of age. He wife, now deceased, was the former Nellie Ewin.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 31, at 2:00 p.m. at the Mauer funeral home with Rev. Ward Campbell officiating at last rites. Burial will be in the City Cemetery under direction of the Mauer Funeral Home.
Survivors include one son, Lester of LeMars; 2 grandchildren, Eldred Morrissey of Mount Vernon, Iowa, and Linda Witt of LeMars; 3 great grandchildren, and 3 brothers, Charles, Fred, William all living in Nebraska.
He was preceded in death by his wife and one daughter.
