Ralph Schrooten
10 May 1956Ralph Schrooten of Milford, Iowa former Plymouth County resident, passed away following a heart attack on Friday. Mr. Schrooten had visited a neighbor and when he became sick asked to be taken to a hospital. He passed away a short time later at a Spirit Lake Hospital. He was 71 years of age.
Ralph Schrooten was born July 8, 1884 in Plymouth County and lived on his farm in Stanton Township, south of LeMars until moving to Milford about seven years ago. He was married to Agda Begg in Sioux City on May 31, 1916.
Funeral services were held today, May 13, at the Liason funeral home in Milford at 10:00 a.m. and at 2:30 p.m. at the Calvary Evangelical Brethren Church in LeMars. Rev. Wendell Begg who conducted services at that church on Sunday, is a nephew of the deceased.
Burial was in LeMars Cemetery under direction of the Mauer funeral home. Mr. Schrooten was a member of the Masonic lodge and all members were asked to meet prior to the funeral, in order to attend in a body. He was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star in LeMars.
Survivors include the widow: two brothers, George of Hinton and Harvey of LeMars and two sisters, Mrs. Charles Begg of LeMars and Mrs. Herman Kortemeyer of Salem, Oregon.
