2 April 1972Funeral services for George Eugene Schrooten, 75, rural Hinton, will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Calvary United Methodist Church, LeMars.
Rev. Thomas Balm will officiate and burial will be in Stanton township EUB cemetery, rural Merrill, uner direction of the Mauer Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 7:30 to 8:30 Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Schrooten, a lifelong Plymouth County resident, died Sunday at Sioux City St. Luke's Medical center after a short illness.
He was born Sept. 17, 1896, in PLymouth county, a son of the late Henry and Olived Grimjes Schrooten. He married Carrie Bail June 8, 1927 at Sioux City.
The Hinton farmer was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, American Legion, Masonic Lodge, Elks Club, Farm Bureau, Lions Club and a veteran of World War I.
Mr. Schrooten was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Henry, Harry and Ralph and a sister, Mrs. George (Lea) Kehrberg.
Survivors are his wife, Carrie of rural Hinton; two daughters, Mrs. Derry (Karen) Oliver of Sioux City, Mrs. Charles (Barbara) Houck of Muncie, INd., a sister Mrs. Charles (Clarabelle) Begg of Woodbine and three grandchildren, Kerry Oliver and Charles and Jeorg Houck.
