Herman Berg Taken By Death

Pioneer In Grant Township

Herman Berg, 75,died Saturday morning, March 10, at the state hospital at Iowa City following an illness of three months.

Herman Berg was born in Germany, February 17, 1870, and came to United States with his family when a very small boy. They settled on a farm in Grant township and he had been living in this vicinity since that time. He was married to Christine Heeren, October 28, 1891, in Grant township and they continued to farm in Grant township. He retired from the farm in 1919, and lived in Le Mars until last fall when he went to live with his daughter, Mrs. Martin Toben, near Akron.

The survivors include Mrs. Martin Toben of Akron, Mrs. Louis Plueger of Brunsville, Mrs. Ben Marienau of Merrill, Miss Rose Berg of Akron, Mrs. Carl Tobolt of Los Angeles, grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Gareth Renken of Le Mars.

He was preceded in death by his wife and two sons.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon, March 13, at the Christ Lutheran church in Grant township. Rev. F. O. Bunge will conduct the servies. Interment will be in the Christ Lutheran cemetery.
