Funeral services for Alexander McArthur, 88, Seney, Ia., who died at a LeMars hospital will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Seney Methodist church.
Rev. T. G. Kennedy will officate and burial will be in the Seney cemetery under direction of the Mauer funeral home of LeMars.
Mr. McArthur was born April 20, 1868, in Ontario, Canada. He came to the United States and to Jackson County, Ia., at the age of 4. He came to Seney soon afterward and married Anna Lancaster there, July 30, 1890.
He operated a rural store at Seney for many years.
Survivors include the widow; 3 sons, Roy of Brighton, Mich., Irving of Sioux City and Melvin of Westmont, Ill.; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. [date of death was 29 Sep 1956]

ALEX McARTHUR FUNERAL SERVICES HELD AT SENEY
Alex McArthur, 88, longtime operator of a rural store at Seney, died Saturday, Sept. 29, at Sacred Heart hospital after a week's illness.
He was born April 20, 1868, at Ontario, Canada. Coming to the United States and Jackson county, Iowa, at the age of 4, the family moved to Seney soon afterward.
Mr. McArthur was married July 30*, 1890, at Seney to Sarah Anna Lancaster. He had retired from business.
Surviving are his wife; three sons, Roy of Brighton, Wash. (aother obit says Michigan), Irving of Sioux City and Melvin of Westmont, Ill.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter in infancy, four brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services were at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Seney Methodist church. Burial was in the Seney cemetery under the direction of Mauer's funeral home
