MRS. RALPH OBERMIRE RITES SET MONDAY IN LEMARS CHURCH

Funeral services for Mrs. Ralph (Mary Effie) Obermire, Sr., 88, Bakersfield, California, longtime LeMars area resident will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 23 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in LeMars.

Mrs. Obermire died Oct. 11, 1967, at a hospital in Bakersfield. The former Mary Effie Ewin was born Dec. 17, 1879, at Rutland, Illinois. She was married in 1897. They lived on a farm near LeMars for 55 years.

Following the death of her husband in 1952, she lived with her son, Rev. Ralph Obermire, at Struble, Morrland and Ledyard. She moved to Bakersfield, Calif, two months before her death.

She was a member of the Franciscan Third Order and the Christian Mothers Society of LeMars.

Survivors are the Rev. Fr. Obermire; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Inez Obermire of LeMars; five granddaughters and a grandson of Fresno, California; a brother, Arthur, of DeMoines. There are 19 great-grandchildren.

OBERMIRE, Mary Effie -- Recitation of the Rosary will be held Friday at 8 p.m. in St. Joseph's Catholic church, 1515 Baker St., with a Solemn Requiem High Mass being celebrated on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in the same church, with Rev. Ralph Obermire as the Celebrant, Rev. John McKee Sub Deacon and Msgr. Roger L. McCann, Deacon, for Mary Effie Obermire, 87, of 3201 Idaho St., who died Oct. 11, in a Bakersfield hospital after a long illness. Her remains are being shipped to the Gunderson-Selleggren Funeral home at Ft. Dodge, Iowa, where a Requiem High Mass and Rosary are scheduled for Friday night at Corpus Christi Church, and final rites will be held at LeMars, Iowa, where Rosary and Requiem High Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph's church, and burial will follow in the family plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery at LeMars, Iowa.

Mrs. Obermire was born December 17, 1879, in Rutland, Illinois, and has lived in this community for the past 6 weeks. She was a home maker for over 60 years, was member of St. Joseph's Parish, the Christian Mothers Society at LeMars, Iowa, and the 3rd Order of St. Francis.

Survivors include her one son, Rev. Ralph Obermire of Bakersfield, and one sister-in-law, Inez Obermire of Oildale. Pallbearers will be Bud Ogden, Ken Collins, Lou Ogden, Harry Hulsey and Ed Del Monte. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Knights of Columbus, Bakersfield Council 977. Honor guard will be by the Admiral Callaghan General Assembly Knights of Columbus.
