Former resident of Seney Dies Friday At Denver, Colorado

Watson D. Kennedy (W. D.) passed away at the Fitzsimmons Veteran's Hospital, Denver, Colorado, on Friday, December 11, 1942, at the age of 67 years, 11 months and two days.

Mr. Kennedy was born at Marshalltown, Iowa, January 9, 1875 and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Kennedy. He married Ida Jane Alderson, July 22, 1903 at Seney, where he made his home for some time. To this union one daughter was born. Mr. Kennedy was an active member of the Methodist Church at Seney for a number of years before moving to Colorado, where he made his home until his death. Deceased served his country during the Spanish-American war, having enlisted at Sheldon and belonging to Company M, 52nd Iowa Infantry regiment.

Survivors are his aged mother, Mrs. W. H. Kennedy of Denver, Colorado; his daughter, Mrs. Charles Ewin of LeMars and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife on December 20, 1920, his father W. H. Kennedy February 12, 1909 and one brother, W. E. Kennedy, May 16, 1920.

Funeral services were conducted this afternoon from the Mauer funeral home, with Rev. S.A. Jones officiating. Interment was made in the LeMars City cemetery. Pallbearers were Will Reeves, Will Reese, Stephen Osborn, W. Henrich, F. Becker and Charles Witt.

WATSON D. KENNEDY CLAIMED BY DEATH
Served In Spanish-American War

Watson D. Kennedy, 67, former Seney resident, died at the Fitzsimmons Veterans Hospital at Denver, Colo., Friday, December 11.

Watson D. Kennedy served his country during the Spanish-American war, having enlisted at Sheldon and was a member of Company M., Fifty-second Iowa infantry regiment.

He was united in marriage with Ida Jane Alderson, July 22, 1903, at Seney, where he lived fro some years. He was an active member of the Seney Methodist church before moving to Colorado, where he made his home in later years.

He leaves to mourn his death his mother, Mrs. W. H. Kennedy, of Denver, Colo.; his daughter, Mrs. Chas. Ewin, of LeMars; and five grandchildren. His wife preceded him in death on December 20, 1920; his father, W. H. Kennedy, February 12, 1909; and one brother, W. E. Kennedy, May 16, 1920.

The funeral was conducted Monday at the Mauer funeral home by Rev. S.A. Jones, and interment made in the City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Will Reeves, Will Rees, Stephen Osborn, W. Henrich, F. Becker and Charles Witt.
