John Alderson
John William Alderson, longtime Seney resident, passed away May 13, 1962, following a sickness of several days. He was a retired farmer and was 83 years of age.
Mr. Alderson was born September 30, 1878, at Argyle, Wisconsin. He came to Plymouth County at the age of 6 years old and has since lived at Seney, Iowa. He was never married.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 16 at the Mauer funeral home at 2 p.m.
Burial will be in the LeMars City Cemetery under the direction of the Mauer funeral home. Rev. Fritz Springis will officiate.He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of the World and the Seney Church.
Survivors include two sisters, Miss Sadie Alderson of Seney and Mrs. Elam (Mary Elizabeth) Chapman of rural LeMars, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Mrs. Ida Kennedy and Miss Leona Alderson.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 16, at the Mauer Funeral Home in LeMars for John William Alderson, age 83, a retired farmer, a longtime resident of Plymouth County, living at Seney until his death.
Rev. Fritz Springis officiated and Mrs. Marshall Rees sang, “Softly and Tenderly” and “The Old Rugged Cross.” Burial was in the LeMars City Cemetery.
The Pallbearers were William Moir, Jake Mulder, Walter Erickson, Merritt Hawkins, Elmer DeRaad and Roy Dobbert. Out of town relatives were Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Carpenter, Mr. and Mrs. Ora Carr and Mr. Dewey Carr. Out of town friends were Mrs. Britton of Alton.
