Hilbert Theodore Martin Hennigs, 83 of Le Mars, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 1994, in Le Mars. Services were held Tuesday (Feb. 8) at Christ Lutheran Church, Grant Township, Plymouth County, with the Rev. Jack Hebard officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery, under direction of Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars.

Mr. Hennigs was born April 8, 1910, in Golden, Illinois, Adams County, son of Heinrich Wilhelm and Marie (Schuette) Hennigs. He was baptized April 17, 1910. On Jan. 11, 1911, he moved to Plymouth County when his father was named the parochial school teacher at Christ Lutheran Church. He was confirmed in 1924. After graduating from elementary and secondary school, he attended St. Paul (Minn.) Lutheran College until 1930. He married Anna F. Siebens Oct. 4, 1931, at the church. They farmed until 1965. He began work in a store in 1966. Mrs. Hennigs died Feb. 21, 1974. He married Annie M.C. Plueger July 21, 1979, at the church.

Survivors include his wife Annie; a son and daughter, Dale of Le Mars and Bettyann Haring of Loveland, Colo.; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; a brother, Norman of Ames, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. Joe (Adele) Fisch of Remsen, Iowa, and Mrs. William (Regina) Knoop of Buellton, Calif.; four stepchildren, Mrs. Reuben (Rosetta) Borchers of Sioux City, Mrs. Richard (Irene) Hanson of Security, Colo., Mrs. Larry (Dorothy) Grasz and Mrs. Edwin (Evelyn) Oltmanns of Le Mars; 10 stepgrandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Esther and an infant, Regina, three brothers, Luther, Roland and Armin, a son, Lloyd, and a grandson.
