Mrs. Henry Falke, one of the best known women, and highly respected in this community for many years, died at an early hour yesterday morning of Spanish influenza and bronchial trouble, at the age of 42 years. The deceased was born in Chicago, on April 28, 1876, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hans Arf. Her father was a carpenter by trade and moved to Marcus, Iowa, in 1880. The family lived in Marcus one year, then took charge of a farm eight miles south of that town, where they lived for many years. On April 17, 1895 she became the wife of Henry Falke, who then resided on a farm in Henry township. Immediately after their marriage the couple settled on a farm in Henry township and lived there until 1904, when they made their home here ever since. To their union four children were born, all of them living to mourn the loss of their loving mother. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, Nov 5, 1918, page 2.
