Delores “Dee” Friske, 65, of Akron, Iowa passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 4, 2011 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A. in Akron. Reverend Dawn Quame will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Akron. Visitation will be after 3:00 p.m. Thursday, November 3, 2011, with the family present after 6:00 p.m., and a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m., all at Carlsen Funeral Home – Schroeder Chapel in Akron. Delores Marie Friske was born October 14, 1946 in Akron, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur and Goldie (Hoffman) Friske. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Akron. She attended school in Akron and graduated from Akron High School in 1965. During her senior year of high school, Dee began working as a C.N.A. at the Akron Care Center. Following high school, she continued working at the Care Center, where she worked for nearly 30 years. In 1993, she retired due to her health.

Dee was a lifetime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Akron, having served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. Dee loved her family, especially her nieces and nephews. She always enjoyed talking with them on the phone and visiting them. Dee and Goldie enjoyed attending area events and fairs through the years and to go shopping, especially with her nieces and nephews. She and Goldie also provided babysitting for many area youngsters through the years. Dee also enjoyed ceramic work and bowling. She will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her mother, Goldie Friske of Akron; her sister: Beverly Renken (Jim) of Alcester, SD; 3 uncles: Ray Hoffman (Betty), Ken Hoffman (Katherine), and Donald Hoffman, all of Westfield, IA; 2 aunts: Betty Van Wyke of Ireton, IA, and Ida Searls of Hawarden, IA; 4 nephews: Tim Renken (Kim) of Alcester, SD, Matt Renken (Lindsay) of Minneapolis, MN, Jake Renken of Sioux Falls, SD, and Jerry Renken of Sioux Falls, SD; her niece: Angela Bernard of Alcester, SD; and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Friske; 3 uncles: Lloyd Hoffman, John Van Wyke, and Gene Hoffman; and a nephew: Charles Bernard.
