Mrs. Claud Whitney Claimed By Death. Was Life Long Resident of County.
Mrs. Mabel L. Whitney, 41, wife of Claud Whitney of this city, passed away at the Sacred Heart hospital Wednesday morning following an illness of four weeks.
Mrs. Whitney was born June 2, 1899, at Remsen. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chris Koerner. Her parents moved to Le Mars when she was two years old and has resided here since.
She was united in marriage with Claud Whitney November 20, 1918, in Le Mars.
She is survived by her husband, two sons, Harold and Ronald, at home, her mother, Mrs. Chris Koerner, five brothers, C.H. Koerner, J.H. Koerner, Irvin Koerner, of Le Mars; Fred Koerner of George, Iowa, and Harold Koerner of Webster City, Iowa.
For the past six years Mrs. Whitney was employed by the Central Electric and Telephone company as an operator. She was a valued employee and her faithful work and courteous treatment of patrons gained her many friends in addition to her friendships in church and social circles.
Funeral This Afternoon.
The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Luken funeral home, Rev. Ralph R. Hunger, pastor of St. John’s Evangelical church will conduct the services. Interment will be made in the Remsen cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Emil Becker, Mark De Force, H.F. Gralapp, William Hansen, Emil Neisius and William Smith. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, Oct. 18, 1940, page 1.
