LeMars Native Art Hansen Longtime Hardware Man

Art Hansen, 82, 501 Central Ave. NW, died unexpectedly Thursday (July 13, 1978) after being admitted Thursday to Floyd Valley hospital.

Services will be Monday, July 17, at 10:30 a.m. in Presbyterian United Church of Christ, LeMars, with Rev. James Ransom officiating. Burial will be in LeMars Memorial cemetery under the direction of Luken-Johnson funeral home.

Mr. Hansen was born Aug. 17, 1895, in LeMars to Simoni and Karen (Madsen) Hansen. He lived his entire life in LeMars except for a few years during his youth when he lived in Sheldon with his parents. He attended LeMars schools.

Mary Wick and Mr. Hansen were married April 25, 1917, in Sioux City. He worked for many years at Hansen Plumbing and Heating in LeMars and was widely known in the community.

Mr. Hansen attended the Presbyterian United Church of Christ 65 years; was a member of the LeMars Municipal Band 48 years and was a F.O. Eagles charter member.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Mrs. W. J. (Shirley) Higgins of LeMars; a grandson, Mike Adams of White Sands, N.M.; two sisters, Mrs. Marjorie Simons, Eudora, Kan. and Mrs. Ray (Elaine) Lippert of Aurora, Ill.; and two nieces. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Victor.
