GEORGE F. BENNETT
George F. Bennett, 90, Akron, formerly of LeMars, died Monday (Feb. 26, 1973) at the Mapes nursing home at Hawarden after a long illness.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Schroeder funeral home with Rev. Herbert Gould of Hawarden officiating.
Burial will be in the Riverside cemetery at Akron with the Schroeder funeral home in charge of arrangements.
A prayer service will be held at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
George F. Bennett was born August 6, 1882, at Springfield, MO., the son of Hiriam and Nette (McLain) Bennett. He went to Chatsworth in 1896, moving to Topeka, kan., until 1901 when he returned to Chatsworth.
He married Minnie Nall Dec. 20, 1902, at Big Springs Baptist church, rural Alcester. The couple farmed in the Akron, Hawarden areas until Mrs. Bennett died in 1953.
Mr. Bennett was then employed by the Martin hotel at Sioux City. He then married Ruth Swift in 1956 in LeMars. She died in 1966.
Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Daisy Sayles of Whittier, Calif., and Mrs. Gladys Huebner of Akron; a son, Clarence of Hawarden; a sister, Mrs. John Krusen of Hawarden; a brother, Arval of Mitchell, S.D.; nine grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
