Randy Pollock, 81, of Akron, Iowa passed away Friday, February 25, 2011 at the Akron Care Center in Akron.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 3, 2011 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Akron, Iowa. Reverend Tanya Sherrill will officiate. Burial with military rites conducted by the Hoschler American Legion Post 186 of Akron will be in Riverside Cemetery in Akron. Visitation with the family present will be after 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2011, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m., all at Carlsen Funeral Home – Schroeder Chapel in Akron, Iowa.

Randall Charles Pollock was born June 21, 1929 in Akron, Iowa the son of Max and F. Pearl (Seamands) Pollock. He attended school in Akron and graduated from Akron High School in 1947. Following his schooling, he continued to worth with his family at their Standard Oil Station in Akron. In 1952, he was drafted into the United States Army. He was stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict. In 1954, he was honorably discharged. Shortly after returning to Akron, he and his family moved to Sioux City and opened a Standard Oil Station in Riverside.

He was united in marriage to Audrey Loux on October 18, 1963 at Whitfield United Methodist Church in Sioux City. In 1965, they moved to Kenosha, Wisconsin, where Randy began his 26 year career with Anaconda American Brass, Alloyed Tube Division. After retiring in 1991, he and Audrey moved back to Akron.

Randy was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Akron. He was also a member of the Hoschler American Legion Post 186 of Akron and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 915 of Elk Point, South Dakota. Randy also enjoyed going to Akron Senior Center for many years. Early on in their marriage, Randy and Audrey enjoyed traveling and camping. Randy was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Bears, and Chicago Bulls. He also enjoyed watching the Akron-Westfield Softball team and gardening. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife of over 48 years, Audrey of Akron; 3 children: Mary Durkee (Curt) of Pleasant Prairie, WI, Kevin Pollock (Mary) of Pleasant Prairie, WI, and Shawn Pollock of Gages Lake, IL; his step son: Jeff Loux of Akron, IA; 7 grandchildren and 4 step grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren and 12 step great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and 2 brothers: Gordon and Vincent.
