DARRELL EYSTER, 1968 LCHS GRAD, ELECTROCUTED
Darrell Eyster, 23, a 1968 graduate of LeMars Community high school, was electrocuted Sunday afternoon (Sept. 9, 1973) while working in North Dakota.
A family friend, Dick Albert, said young Eyster was following the wheat harvest and was working in North Dakota with a combine when the accident occurred.
His parents are Mr. and Mrs. Ira Eyster of Norman, Okla., former LeMars residents. Mr. Eyster was employed at Westmar College from 1965 to 1967 as assistant professor in education. After moving to Norman, Mr. Eyster was going to further his education.
While at LCHS, Darrell was a 3-year member of the Letter Club, and participated in basketball 3 years, football 2 years, track 3 years and cross country 2 years.
Funeral services are pending at Norman, Okla.
Survivors in addition to his parents are his wife (a native of Pennsylvania), a 6-month-old son; two brothers, Robert, taking his internship at Wichita, Kan., and Donally at home and a sister, Merrily, at home.
