Maxine Meister, 92, of Le Mars passed away Monday, January 3, 2011 at the Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 7, 2011 at the Presbyterian United Church of Christ with Reverend Jan Christensen officiating. Interment will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitations with the family present will be after 4:00 p.m. Thursday, January 6, 2011 at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars followed by a 6:30 p.m. Prayer Service. Visitations will continue Friday morning from 9:30 a.m. until service time.

Pallbearers will be Randy Meister, Brian Meister, Jim Meister, Darren Meister, Tim Kohn, Shannon Fitch, Ryan Reinking and Wyatt Fitch. Honorary casket bearers will be Jana Meister, Danica Meister, Angie Meister, Suzanne Meiners, Holly Kohn, Heather Fitch, and Heidi Reinking.

Maxine E. Rimmer was born April 7, 1918 near Remsen, Iowa to Matthew Y. “Mike” and Pearl M. (Summers) Rimmer. She was raised on a farm in the Grand Meadow area and graduated from Grand Meadow High School with the Class of 1935. Maxine was united in marriage to Ralph Meister on April 11, 1936 at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Kingsley, Iowa. To this union four sons were born: Jerry, Kenneth, Mark, and Daniel. Maxine and Ralph farmed in Grand Meadow area, Remsen, and in 1959 moved to a farm near Correctionville, Iowa. In 1980 they retired and moved to Le Mars.

While living in Le Mars, Maxine served as a Deacon of her church, was a founding member of the Elderly Peer Group in Le Mars and volunteered at Brentwood Good Society for several years. Maxine also enjoyed square dancing, polka dancing, and traveling with her family. Throughout her life, Maxine was always very close to her siblings. They were known as the “Rimmer Party of 8”. Maxine always enjoyed the special time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include her 4 sons and daughters-in-law: Jerry and Phyllis of Le Mars, Kenneth and Betty of Redwood Falls, MN, Mark and Joan of Correctionville, IA, and Dan and Pat of Pierson, IA; 9 grandchildren: Randy (Judy) Meister of Lees Summit, MO, Brian (Sharon) Meister of Breezy Point, MN, Jim (Amy) Meister of Breezy Point, MN, Angela Meister of Redwood Falls, MN, Suzanne Meiners of Sioux Falls, MN, Darren (Steph) Meister of Sioux City, IA, Holly (Tim) Kohn of Cushing, IA, Heather (Shannon) Fitch of Washta, IA, Heidi (Ryan) Reinking of Sioux City, IA; 13 great grandchildren: Jana and Danica Meister of Lees Summit, MO, Carol, Abigail, and Austin Meister of Breezy Point, MN, Ashley Meiners of Sioux Falls, SD, Allison and Katelyn Meister of Sioux City, IA, Emma Kohn of Cushing, IA, Mackenzie, Bailey, Wyatt, and Kendall Fitch of Washta, IA; a brother, Kenneth (Hope) Rimmer of Spirit Lake, IA; a brother-in-law, Arlo Grubb of Kingsley, IA; 3 sisters-in-law, Lorraine Robinson of Eugene, OR, Sylvia Beelner of Kingsley, IA, and Maroldine Grabe of Pierson, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, Matthew Y. “Mike” and Pearl M. (Summers) Rimmer; husband Ralph on November 25, 2000; 2 grandchildren, Scott Alan Meister and Rachelle Renee Meister; 3 sisters, Lucille Riemenschneider, Audrey Grubb, and LaDonna Grabe.
