Ann Tschampel, 55, of Le Mars passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, May 7, 2007.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 12, 2007 at the Merrill United Methodist Church with Ted Stowers officiating. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Merrill, Iowa. Visitations will be after 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 11, 2007 at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars with the family present to greet friends after 4:00 p.m. followed by a 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service. Visitations will continue Saturday morning at the church from 9:30 a.m. until service time.

Pallbearers will be Tom Fischer, Bill Fischer, Tom Galles, Lee Nilles, John Nilles, and Dennis Schlichte. Honorary pallbearers will be Tyler, Teegan, and Sydney Tschampel and Conner and Chase Peterson.

Ann Louise Berven was born July 13, 1951 at Webster City, Iowa to Stan and Arlene (Grubbe) Berven. Ann began her education in Webster City and moved with her family to Le Mars in 1964. She graduated from Le Mars High School in 1969. Following high school, Ann attended Wayne State College. Ann was united in marriage to John “Jack” Tschampel on June 5, 1971 at Le Mars, Iowa. While Jack was serving his country in the Air Force the couple lived at Rapid City, South Dakota for a couple of years. Upon his discharge from the service, they moved back to Le Mars in August of 1973. Ann worked at Archie’s Waeside in Le Mars for several years and later worked at Quest Diagnostics for many years. In November of 2003, Ann went to work for the Morningside Family Health Care Clinic until her health prevented her from working in September of 2006. Ann was diagnosed with cancer in 1991. For 15 years she survived for her family. It was her determination and dream to see her children grow-up, marry, and in the later years she thrilled to be “grandma”.

Ann and Jack are members of the Merrill United Methodist Church in Merrill. Ann enjoyed volunteering to be a Little League coach for her kids and was always there to watch her kids participate in sports. She also enjoyed golfing and watching and attending NASCAR races.

Survivors include her husband of 36 years, Jack Tschampel of Le Mars; a son and daughter-in-law, Dustin Tschampel and his wife Buffy and their children Tyler, Teegan, and Sydney of Merrill; a daughter and son-in-law, Dawn Petersen and her husband Cody and their children, Conner and Chase of Le Mars; her father, Stan Berven of Abilene, Kansas; 2 brothers, Denny and his wife Kay Berven , David and his wife Arlene Berven all of Abilene, Kansas; a sister-in-law, Karen Harrington and her husband Vernon of Le Mars; nieces and nephews, Beth (Joe) Adams of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Audra Harrington of Waconia, Minnesota, Kayla and Allie Berven of Abilene, Kansas, Dallas Berven of Atlanta, Georgia, and Cody and Jacob Berven of Abilene, Kansas; great nieces and nephews, Katie and Alex Adams and Brodie Harrington; her grandmother, Verna Rowe of Webster City, Iowa; and many friends.

Ann was preceded in death by her mother, Arlene Berven; and 1 grandson, Derek James Peterson.
