Funeral for Mrs. J.E. (Evelyn) McGovern, 100, of Alexandria, Va., formerly of Remsen. were held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 30, 1986. at the Fisch Funeral Home. Rev. Paul Eisele officiated and burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Mrs. McGovern died Dec. 10, 1985, at Alexandria. Va. She had been in failing health for the last two years. Mrs. McGovern, the former Evelyn Vogelsberg, was born May 4. 1885, at Potosi, Wis., the daughter of Theodore and Mary (Linden) Vogelsberg. She was reared and educated at Potosi. Her marriage to Dr. J.E. McGovern took place Sept. 20, 1907, at Potosi. After their marriage the couple moved to Highland, Wis., where Dr. McGovern practiced medicine until 1922, when they came to Remsen where the doctor practiced until retiring in 1949. He died Feb. 2, 1950. Mrs. McGovern resided in Remsen until 1980 when she moved to Alexandria.

Surviving are a son, John of Lubbock, Tex.; two daughters, Mrs. William (Kathryn) Carlson of Lakeville, Ind.,andMrs.M.P. (Edwina) O'Keefe of Alexandria, Va.; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
