Richard J. Jones
Richard J. Jones, 70 of Le Mars, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1992, at Marian Health Center in Sioux City. Services were held at 1:30 p.m. at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, rural Akron. The Rev. Stephany Sanborn officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery under direction of the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home, Le Mars.
Mr. Jones was born Sept. 19, 1922, at Sioux city, Iowa, the son of E.R. and Neva (Swanger) Jones. He married Anna Grosenheider, April 26, 1946, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran church. The couple farmed in Preston township, rural Akron until retiring in 1984.
Mr. Jones was an army veteran of World War II, and a member of Heeren, Wilken, McHale Post 724, American Legion of Brunsville. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and St. John Evangelical Lutheran church, where he was presently serving on the church council
Survivors include his wife, Anna of Le Mars; a son, Robert R. Jones and his wife, Diane, of Le Mars; a daughter, Julie Beitelspacher and her husband, Wayne, of Le Mars; three grandchildren, Brenda Jones, Kari Beitelspacher and Luke Beitelspacher; and two sisters, Joyce Julien of La Mesa, Calif., and Mary Lou Pittman and her husband, Alvin of'Kingsley, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents
