Chris R. Hirsch, Sr., 75, longtime Le Mars resident, died Friday, Dec. 4,1987, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars after a brief illness.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. Rev. Dale George will officiate and burial will be in Le Mars Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Sunday with a prayer service at 3 p.m.

He was born Jan. 28, 1912, at Tripp, S.D., to Fred and Maria Vetter Hirsch. He attended Le Mars schools and graduated from Le Mars High School. He was an area resident all his life. His marriage to Margaret Wiltgen took place Oct. 15,1936, at Sioux City.

Mr. Hirsch was foreman of State of Iowa for Plymouth County road division before his retirement.

Survivors are his wife, Margaret, Le Mars; a daughter, Mary Hirsch, Iowa City; two sons, Chris Hirsch Jr., Kalamazoo, Mich., and James Hirsch, Coon Rapids, Minn.; a sister, Elsie Kammerer, Beloit, Wis., and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers. Tape and Paul; and a sister, Laura.
