Donald L. Waterbury, a long-time Akron
resident, passed away Friday, May 2, at
a Minneapolis hospital after an extended
illness, aged 61 years.

Donald LeRoy Waterbury was born at
Akron, Iowa, on August 8, 1907. He spent
most of his youth here and attended the
Akron High school where he was an out-
standing athlete, starring in football and
basketball. In later life he worked as a
baker in Sioux City and later bought the
Akron Bakery and operated the same for
a number of years. After selling the
bakery here, he did some railroad work
and operated a cafe. He was a veteran
of World War II.

Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Mildred
Lenogh, of Sioux City; a brother,
Sylvan Waterbury, of Boron, Calif.; his
step-mother, Mrs. D. L. Waterbury, of
Akron, three step-brothers and a number
of cousins, nephews and nieces.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday;
morning of this week at St. Patrick's
Catholic Church in Akron, with Rev. Fr.
John Schissel officiating. Burial was in
Riverside Cemetery.
