Howard Searls Dead at 94

Funeral services for John Howard Searls,
94, pioneer Akron farmer, were held May 27
at Akron. He died at the Akron hospital May
23, after a brief illness.

Mr. Searls was born in Rockford, Ill., July
31, 1873, and he came to Akron at the age of

when he moved to the Akron nursing home.

His wife, who preceded him in death in

Having lived in the Akron community for
about 85 years he knew what it was to be a
pioneer, to see the rigors and hardships of
depressions and periods of war and to enjoy
the development of a fine growing
neighborhood.

Among survivors are his five sons, Walter,
Lloyd, Daniel and William, all of Akron, and
Alvin. Sioux City; four daughters, Mrs.
Warren Young. Oakland, Calif., Mrs. Robert
Siebson, Le Center. Minn., Mrs. Don Wenzel,
Larchwood, and Mrs. Harry Willer, Akron; 19
grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. B. A. Adams,
Akron.

His wife, two sons and three grandsons
preceded him in death.
