Searls, Erwin Raymond 1919-1961

Funeral services were held at 2
p.m. today, Monday, September 11
at the Christian church in Akron
for Erwin R. Searls who was killed
in a one car crash on Friday. It
was not known whether Mr. Searls
suffered a heart attack while driving
or went to sleep at the wheel.
Relatives said that he had suffered
from a heart ailment.

Lewison funeral home at Akron
was in charge of arrangements and
burial was at Riverside cemetery.

Erwin Raymond Searls, 41, of
rural Akron, was killed early Fri-
day when the car he was driving
smashed into a concrete bridge
abutment in highway 12 about 4
miles north of Akron.

Searls, alone in his car, was
found about 5:30 a.m. by a passing
motorist.

Dr. Sherman Lindell. Plymouth
county medical examiner, estimat-
ed that Searls had been dead about
four hours when found and attributed
death to head injuries.

Plymouth county Sheriff Frank
Scholer, who investigated with Dan
Blake. Akron marshal, said indica-
tions were that Searls fell asleep
at the wheel of his vehicle.

The body was taken to the l.ewison
funeral home, Akron.

Mr Searls was born October 12,
1919, at Akron and attended school
there He served in the Army in
World War 2. He was never married.
He lived with his father, Howard
Searls on the Searls home
place near Akron.

Survivors besides the father include
four sisters and five brothers.

Most of the Searls brothers
live in the Akron area.
