Richard G. Caskey, 63, of Akron died Thursday, May 8, 1997, at his residence following a brief illness.
Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the First Church of Christ in Akron, with the Rev. Elmer Hodge officiating. Burial, with military garveside rites by the Hoschler American Legion Post 186, was in the Riverside Cemetery at Akron. Visitation was from 2-8 p.m.Thursday, with the family present from 7-8 p.m., at the Schoeder Funeral Home in Akron.
Mr. Caskey was born June 26, 1933, at Akron to Charles Jr. and Lucille (Trudeau) Caskey. He attended school in Akron, graduating from Akron High School. He married Susie Corrcia June 8, 1957, at Akron. He had been a self employed truck driver for many years, and had also trucked for Liquid Carrier of Akron, Sooners Transportation of Sioux City and Higman Sand and Gravel of Akron for ten years.
He was a veteran of U.S. Nany, having served from 1952 to 1956, aboard the USS Yosemite. He was a member of the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife of Akron; three daughters and their husbands, Suzanne and Nick Mart of Armstrong, IA., Debra and Michael Steckleberg and Rochelle and Steward Eisma, all of Ireton; a son and his wife, Eddie and Tammy of Ireton; 13 grandnchildren; two great-grandchildren; her mother of Akron; two brothers and their wives, Donald and Mary Ellen of Akron and Chuck and Pat of Sergeant Bluff.
He was preceded in death by his father, and one son, Charles T. Caskey.
Pallbearers include Harold Highman, Jr., Art Terpstra, Ray Ostermyer, Jack Corrcia, Leonard Buryanek, Bud Lias and Kim Caskey
