Eunice Olson, 83, of Council Bluffs, and formerly of Seney, died Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, at the Midlands Living Center in Council Bluffs.

Eunice Mae Erickson was born Aug. 19, 1926, on the family farm near Kingsley, the daughter of Earnest A. and Amelia (Schmidt) Erickson. She attended country school near her home.

Eunice was united in marriage to Lawrence Olson May 17, 1949, at the Seney Methodist Church. Lawrence worked for the railroad and later as a federal track inspector. Eunice and Lawrence were blessed with two children, Terry and Gloria.

The family had lived in Seney, Worthington, Minn., Milwaukee, Wis., Crystal Lake, Ill., Sioux City and Council Bluffs. Lawrence died in 1983 while working in North Platte, Neb.

As a younger woman, Eunice had worked for Sheehan Produce in Le Mars and Campbell Soup Co. in Worthington, Minn.

Eunice enjoyed being a stay-at-home mother, caring for her family. She also enjoyed fishing, quilting, sewing, and crocheting.

Survivors include her children, Terry Olson and his wife, Deb of Seney and Gloria Jean Olson of Council Bluffs; a grandson, Justin Olson and his fiancée Trista Carter; two great-grandchildren, Jayden and Jordyn; and her extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earnest A. and Amelia (Schmidt) Erickson; her husband, Lawrence; two brothers, Walter and Raymond Erickson; and two sisters, Hulda Costello and Nellie Harms.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Seney United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jason Larson officiating. Interment will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery, rural Le Mars. Visitations will be after 2 p.m. Friday at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars with the family present 6 p.m. to greet friends. Visitation will continue Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. until service time.

Pallbearers will be Eugene Olson, Bruce Erickson, Brian Erickson, Kevin Olson, Jerry Erickson, and Rick Erickson.
