Daniel Bennette, 51, of Le Mars, died Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009, at Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars.

Daniel Rivola Bennette was born Jan. 27, 1958, at the Lawton Army Hospital, Seattle, Wash., to Rivola and Donna (Taylor) Bennette. Daniel graduated in 1976 from Central High School, Davenport.

He served his country in the United States Army from June 1976 until his honorable discharge in June 1979. He then attended Hamilton Business College in Davenport studying electronics.

Daniel has spent most of his career in the security and alarm industry. He had worked for Per-Mar Security in Davenport for a number of years before moving to Denver, Colo., and later Corpus Christi, Texas. He later accepted a position with Bankoe Security in Minneapolis, Minn., eventually transferring to Sioux Falls, S.D. While living in Sioux Falls, Daniel accepted a position with Tyco Plastics.

He enjoyed motorcycling, completing Sudoku puzzles, and any types of games involving mathematics. While living in Sioux Falls, Daniel had the opportunity to go on a mission trip to Jamaica with his church, Faith Temple, that he enjoyed immensely.

Survivors include his parents, Rivola and Donna Bennette of Le Mars; a brother, Dennis Bennette and Mary Kehoe of Davenport; two sisters, Janet Williams and Bob Hicks of Calamus, and Terrie Bennette-Huttenhoff of Del Norte, Colo.; two nephews, LeRoy and Stephanie McFarland of Le Mars and Jason Phelps of Texas; four nieces, Sarah Sanders of Le Mars, Melissa Lister of Idaho, Miranda Lister of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Vanessa Brock of Newton Lake, Idaho; four great-nieces and eight great-nephews; four aunts and uncles, George and Virginia Taylor of Sioux City, Betty and David Lindsey of Springfield, Mo., Jean and Ron Holland of Greenville, Texas and June Campbell of Greenville, Texas

Daniel was preceded in death by his brother Gary April 12, 2004; grandparents, George and Thelma Taylor and David and Beulah Bennette; an aunt, Evelyn Hall; a brother-in-law, Craig Huttenhoff; and a great-nephew, Andrew Ferguson.

A Celebration of Life Service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars, with the Rev. Dan Krause of the Le Mars Assembly of God officiating. Abiding by his wishes, Daniel will be cremated with inurnment and military honors provided by the Wasmer American Legion Post #241 at Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitations will be Thursday afternoon from 4 p.m. until service time.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Bennette, Steve Apleton, and LeRoy McFarland.
