ORANGE CITY, Iowa -- Mary Kuester, 49, of Orange City died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars, with the Rev. Jean Morse of St. John's Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A. officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will begin after 2 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present 5:30 p.m. to service time, at the funeral home.
Mary Jane Huisman was born Nov. 29, 1952, in Luverne, Minn., to Herman and Beatrice "Betty" (Untiedt) Huisman. Mary was baptized in the Lutheran faith at Hills, Minn. As a young girl in 1964, Mary and her family moved to Le Mars. She was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars, and graduated from Le Mars Community High School in 1971.
Mary was united in marriage to Mark Allen Kuester on June 9, 1978, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars. She worked for K-Products in Orange City for the past 13 years.
Mary enjoyed playing the organ and crocheting. She made countless baby blankets for relatives and friends. She also enjoyed collecting porcelain dolls from around the world. Mary and Mark loved to spend time together camping and fishing.
Survivors include her husband of 24 years, Mark Kuester of Orange City; four sisters, Jean Huisman of Le Mars, Donna and her husband, Jim Hensel of Milroy, Minn., Kristy and her husband, Rob Pierson of Le Mars, and Karla and her husband, LaDon Mott of Le Mars; a brother, Dale and his wife, Patty Huisman of Le Mars; seven nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, "Shorty."
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Brian Huisman.
Honorary pallbearers will be her nieces and nephews, William Hensel, Julie Hensel, Gretchen Huisman, Sara Huisman, Bradley Huisman, Virginia Mott and David Mott.
