Florence M. Thoms, 92, of Le Mars, died Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2005, at the Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars.
Florence Mildred Brown was born Nov. 24, 1912, at Sunnyside, Wash., the daughter of Charles and Mary (Vetter) Brown. As a young girl, Florence and her family moved to a farm southwest of Le Mars, in Washington Township, Plymouth County where she attended country school.

Florence was united in marriage to Elmer Thoms in August 1933 in Le Mars. Florence and Elmer moved to a farm in Washington Township in the late 1930s. In 1956, Florence and Elmer moved to a home in Le Mars and continued to farm until the late 1960s. Elmer died in January 1979. Florence continued to live in her home until 2000 when she moved to Park Place Estates and in January 2004, she made her home at the Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars.

Survivors include her three children, Mary and her husband, Bob Harrison, Jerry Thoms, and Janice and her husband, Wes Heidbrink, all of Le Mars; eight grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Elsie Brown of Salix; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Elmer in January 1979; two brothers, Glen and Ray Brown and a sister, Blanche Kramer.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars with the Rev. Larry Fett of Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars officiating. Arrangements are with the Carlsen Funeral Home of Le Mars.

Pallbearers will be Keith Harrison, Bob Harrison, Roy Thoms, Todd Thoms, Travis Thoms, and Jessica Thoms.
