REMSEN, Iowa -- William "Bill" Kunkel, 49, of Denver, Colo., formerly of Remsen, died unexpectedly Monday, July 22, 2002, in Denver.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen, with the Rev. Tim Johnson officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Friday, with a parish rosary at 3 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen.

Mr. Kunkel was born Sept. 3, 1952, in Le Mar, Iowa, the son of Richard and Dorothy (Wolf) Kunkel. He was raised in the Remsen area and received his education at St. Mary's Catholic School in Remsen, graduating in 1970. He then attended Fort Dodge Community College in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He lived and worked as a mechanical draftsman in the Denver area for the last 25 years.

Survivors include his mother, Dorothy of Remsen; two brothers and their wives, Carl and Mary and Dan and Rosie, all of Remsen; a sister and her husband, Lynn and Larry Bohnenkamp of Le Mars; seven nieces and nephews, Holly Pottebaum, Jennifer, Sarah, Lisa and Brian Kunkel and Nick and LaTonya Bohnenkamp; several aunts and uncles; and Bill's special friend, Holly Galliger of Denver.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Pallbearers will be Larry and Nick Bohnenkamp, Keith and Lisa Kunkel, and Holly and John Pottebaum.
