Sally A. Olson, 56, of Le Mars died Thursday, July 15, 2004, at her home in Le Mars.
Sally Ann Wiuff was born Feb. 20, 1948, in Harlan, the daughter of Palmer and Delta (Petersen) Wiuff. Sally was raised in Harlan and graduated from Harlan High School in 1966. During her high school years, Sally worked at the A & W Drive Inn that her family operated. She was united in marriage to Alan D. Olson on April 24, 1968, in Maryville, Mo. Shortly after Sally and Alan were married, Alan entered the military and was stationed at Ft. Carson, near Colorado Springs, Colo. Sally moved to Colorado Springs while Alan served his country. Following Alan's discharge, the couple returned to Harlan in 1969. Sally and Alan moved to Le Mars in 1970.
After their son Shawn was born, Sally stayed home to care for him until he became school aged. In 1980, Sally began her 18-year career with Chemical Sanitizing Systems in Le Mars. She had also been the secretary--treasurer for the First Baptist Church in Le Mars for several years.
Sally enjoyed crocheting, sewing and solving crossword puzzles. She enjoyed traveling with her husband to different conventions and seminars across the country.
Survivors include her husband Alan of Le Mars; a son and daughter-in-law, Shawn and Becky Olson and their son, Bryce of Le Mars; her parents, Palmer and Delta Wiuff of Harlan; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Connie and Larry McDermott and Luann and Jon Hansen, all of Harlan; her mother-in-law and brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. today (Monday) at the First Baptist Church in Le Mars with the Rev. Jon Meredith officiating. Interment was in Memorial Cemetery. Visitations were after 3 p.m. Sunday at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars with the family present to greet friends after 6 p.m. Sunday evening followed by a 7 p.m. prayer service.
Pallbearers were Dan Jensen, Dave Hunter, Bob Steinbrecher, Stan Culley, Jason Marienau, and Randy Boetger.
