CAUSE OF DEATH: …following a brief illness.
DATE OF BIRTH: Aug. 13, 1918
PLACE OF BIRTH: Remsen, IA
PARENTS: John and Josephine (Bohlke) Vaske
SPOUSE & DATE & PLACE of 1st MARRIAGE: Alice Kunkel, Nov. 28, 1950, LeMars, IA
SPOUSE & DATE & PLACE of 2nd MARRIAGE: ---
OCCUPATION: He served in the U.S. Army with an anti-aircraft artillery unit in the African, European, and Middle Eastern theaters. His awards and decorations include four Overseas Ribbons, the Good Conduct Medal and the Bronze Arrowhead Medal for landing in Europe. Following his discharge, he returned to the Vaske farm. After his marriage in 1966, the couple moved to the Hinton-Neptune area and farmed until retiring in 1981. They moved to LeMars in 1989.

SURVIVORS: …include his wife; five daughters, Josie and her husband Jerry Petermeier of St. Louis Park, Minn., Jane Mertes and Margaret and her husband, Myron Majeres, all of Merrill, Iowa, Jan and her husband Francis Gorbel of Granville, Iowa, and Joan Vaske of Sioux City; seven grandchildren; and a sister, Sally Nitzschke of Remsen.
PRECEDED in DEATH by: …six siblings, Sister Fidelis Vaske OSF., Veronica Vaske in infancy, Cletus Vaske, Malanie Majeres, Catherine Bortscheller and Rosella Majeres.
