Nicholas “Nick” Clay, 20, of Akron, Iowa, passed away suddenly Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in Akron with Reverend Jon Meredith officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery. Visitations will be after 3:00 p.m. Monday, January 26, 2009 at the Carlsen Funeral Home – Schroeder Chapel in Akron, Iowa. Visitations will continue Tuesday morning at the church from 9:30 a.m. until service time.

Pallbearers will be Allen Clay, Eric Milbrodt, Jamie Arens, Donald Schumaker, Kyle Pies, and Justin Bringman.

Nicholas Francis Clay was born October 17, 1988 in Sioux City, Iowa to Michael Francis Bonowski and Colleen Clay. He was raised in the Elk Point and Akron area. Nick helped local farmers and also did construction work.

Nick enjoyed cars and working on his Mitsubishi Eclipse performance. He also enjoyed skateboarding, fishing, and hanging out with his friends.

Survivors include his mother, Colleen Clay of Hudson, SD; a sister: Ashley Arens and her husband Jamie of Akron, IA, and their children, Daniel, Michaela, and Chloe Arens; a sister Lucy Clay of Akron, IA; a brother: Allen Clay and his wife Kayla of Orange City, IA and their daughter, Lillian Louise Clay; the love of his life, Crystal McCormick of Hartford, SD; his grandparents: Stan and Marlene Evans of Benton, KY; his aunt: Michelle Metzke of Austin, TX; and several other family.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Alan Clay; his great grandparents: Raymond and Margaret Rosenbaum; and an uncle: Kevin Clay.
