Joseph J. Delutri, 75, of Merrill, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2009, at Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars surrounded by his family.

Joseph "Joe" Delutri was born July 30, 1933, at McNally. Joe was a lifetime member of Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church in Merrill. Joe served his country during the Korean War with the United States Air Force. He was a member of the Olson-Halweg American Legion Post #125. He served on the Merrill City Council for more than 30 years. Joe and Velma were the parents of eight children.

Survivors include his five sons and three daughters; 17 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Velma on Dec. 7, 2005; two brothers and three sisters.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, Merrill, with the Rev. Dan Greving officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Olson-Halweg American Legion Post #125 of Merrill. Inurnment will be at Hillside Cemetery at Merrill. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars with the family present to greet friends after 5 p.m. followed by a 7 p.m. Scriptural wake service.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Siouxland.
