James "Jim" Knecht, 88, of Akron, died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2008, at the Akron Care Center in Akron.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Carlsen Funeral Home -- Schroeder Chapel in Akron. Pastor Tom Steele of First Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Akron with graveside military rites conducted by the Hoschler American Legion Post 186 of Akron. Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Sunday with the family present from noon until service at the funeral home.
