Ann Beely Garton, 101 ½ years of age and a Le Mars native, died Saturday (Sept. 30, 1978) at a Ventura, Calif. rest home where she lived for 15 years.

The centenarian was born April 27, 1877, in Le Mars to John and Ursula Beely. The Beely’s operated the furniture store later sold to the Mauer family.

She lived here until moving to California in 1930. Her husband was Caleb Garton. He preceded her in death in 1951. She was also preceded in death by a son John.

Mrs. Beeley (transcriber’s note: Name is misspelled, also, she would have been Mrs. Garton.) was a member of the Methodist church.

After cremation, ashes will be sent to Le Mars for graveside services in Le Mars Memorial Cemetery under direction of the Mauer funeral home.

Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Lavonne Patterson, Bakersfield, Calif., a son Paul Garton, Manhattan Beach, Calif., and one granddaughter.
