Bernice Antoinette Laux, a long time LeMars school teacher, passed away at a Cherokee hospital on December 17, 1957, after a sickness which lasted several weeks.
Miss Laux, who formerly resided at 115 1st Ave. SE in LeMars, was born in LeMars on June 23, 1887, and was 70 years of age. She had lived at Cherokee for the past two and one-half years.
Miss Laux was a lifelong resident of LeMars and is show above in a photo picture taken at the time of her retirement in 1953 and having taught for 42 years in the LeMars Public School system.
Deceased was the daughter of the late Lydia Duerr Laux and Wilhelm Laux, her father being an early day LeMars merchant.
Funeral services were held Thursday, December 19, at the Mauer funeral home here at 2 p.m. Rev. R. V. Gildner officiated and burial was in the LeMars City Cemetery under direction of the Mauer Funeral Home.
Survivors include a sister, Miss Lucille D. Laux and a brother, Russell L. Laux, both of LeMars.
