Alma Ruth Port, 96, of Akron, Iowa, died Friday, March 15, 1996, at the Akron Care Center after a short illness.

Services were held Tuesday. March 19 at the Wesley United Methodist Church In Akron with the Rev. Don Greenough officiating. Burial was In Riverside Cemetery in Akron under the direction of Schroeder Funeral Home. Music was "He Touched Me" and The Old Rugged Cross" sung by Jon Harris. The congregation sang "What a Friend We Have In Jesus" and "How Great Thou Art." Pam Von Hagel was organist. Pallbearers were Dale Port. Dave Port, Arlen Lucken, Alan Lucken. Virgil Morehead, Nathan Port. Jim Morehead and Daryl Port.

Mrs. Port was born Sept. 5, 1899. in Plymouth County. Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth (Hoffman) Morehead. She attended school In Westfield. Iowa. She married Fay Port Nov. 20. 1919. at the
First Methodist Church In Sioux City. Iowa. They farmed in the Westfield and Akron areas for 46 years. They sold their farm In 1968 and moved to Akron. Mr. Port died Nov. 23. 1988. Mrs. Port enjoyed gardening very much and was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church In Akron.

Survivors Include a son. Kenneth and his wife, Carol Port of Akron; two grandsons, Dale and his wife. Donna Port of Richmond. Virginia, and Dave and his wife, Debrah Port of Rosevllle, Minnesota; four great grandchildren. Nathan and his wife. Autumn Port, and Jennie Port, all of Richmond. Virginia, and Aaron Port. Kenan Port both of Rosevllle; one great great grandchild, Audrey Port of Richmond; four sisters. Hope Lucken, Akron, Iowa, Dorothy Miller, Joy McCorkell, Madge Kellogg all of California.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters, Lucetta Port and Alta Korthals; and four brothers, Guy Strachey, Clare, and Charles Morehead.
