Mrs. Mary Herzberg Is Dead One Month After Husband’s Demise
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Christine Herzberg, 69, who had lived in Plymouth county since infancy, were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran church in Johnson township.
Rev. E. E. Senst officiated, and burial was in the church cemetery under the direction of Mauer’s funeral home
Mrs. Herzberg died unexpectedly Wednesday, Sept. 29, at her farm home in Johnson township. She had been a patient at Sacred Heart hospital the past seven weeks after suffering a broken hip, and had returned home a week previous to her death.
Born April 9, 1885 at Minsen, Oldenburg, Germany; she came to this county with her parents when an infant of nine months and had lived in Plymouth county ever since.
Mary Christine Ohlrichs and John Herzberg were married Feb. 9, 1903 in Plymouth county. He died Aug. 22 this year. Her parents and sister also preceded her in death.
Surviving arc a son, Chris Herzberg of route 4, Le Mars: a daughter, Mrs. Rudy (Martha) Eberhard of route 3, Le Mars; four grandchildren; three brothers, John Ohlrichs of Le Mars, Henry and Herman Ohlrichs of Iona, Minn.: and a sister, Mrs. E. W. Klemme of Le Mars.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran church Ladies aid society.~LeMars Sentinel of 06 October 1954
