OCCUPATION: He served in the U.S. Army, Company C, 347th Infantry during World War II from 1942 to 1945. He was stationed in the Aleutian Islands, then transferred to the Rhineland Central Europe. His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal with three clusters, African Theatre Ribbon with two bronze stars, Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Ribbon with one bronze star, Distinguished Unit Ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal. He returned to Iowa, where he farmed and worked as farm laborer. Following his retirement, he moved into Akron. He entered Southridge Care Center in Sioux Falls in 1991.
SURVIVORS: ..include five sisters; three brothers; and several nieces and nephews.
