Thea A. Leekley, 63, of Akron, Iowa, passed away Monday Oct. 14, at a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.

Services were held Thursday Oct. 17, at Wesley United Methodist Church with Pastor Marion Sindt officiating. Burial in Riverside Cemetery.

Thea was born Oct. 25, 1932, near Burke, S.D., the daughter of T.S. and Dena (Vogt ) Leekley. She graduated from Westfield High School in 1951. She obtained her B.S. in home Economics from Wayne State College in 1955 and a Master's Degree from Ohio University in 1965. She taught in Corning, Albert City, Hull and LeMars, Iowa: and Hills, Minnesota where she introduced a vocational prep course for men.

She retired from teaching in 1975 and moved to Akron where she operated a catering and upholstery business. She also worked at Casey's General Store in Akron. She was a member of Wesley Unitedd Methodist church, church circle (WSCS), Pinochle Club, Embroidery Club and Blowing League, Travel Club.

Survivors include: three sisters, Ethel and husband Stanley Krosch of Kingsley, Polly and husband Joe Smith of St. Albans ,W.V., Leola Muller of Sioux City; two brothers, Dale and Corrine of Kingsley, and E.M. "Buzz" and wife Virginia of Westfield; several nieces and nephews; many friends and co-workers.
