Wednesday rites for longtime resident

James Le Roy (Roy) Chenhall, 99, longtime LeMars and area resident, died Monday Feb. 11, 1991 at the Abbey Care Center in Le Mars. He was a retired farmer.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church in Le Mars with Rev. Lynn Potter officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery in LeMars.

Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars.

Mr. Chenhall was born Oct.30, 1891 in Ireton, the son of James and Minnie Walker Chenhall. He lived on the home farm until 1938, when he moved to Le Mars. He married Nellie Lydia Wells on Jan 1, 1938. She died Jan 16, 1973. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of First United Methodist Church in Le Mars.

He married Edit Kammerer on May 13, 1978, in Le Mars.

Survivors are his wife, Edith Chenhall, Le Mars; a step daughter, Joyce Knorr and her husband, Virgil of Clear Lake; two step grandsons, Ken Knorr of Swea City and Ketih Knorr, Minneapolis; a step-grandson, Michael Knorr of Swea City;p a step great-grand daughter, Jennie Sue Knorr of Swea City; a brother, John Chenhall of Spencer.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Mervyn.
