Tucker Funeral Rites Thursday
Pioneer Dies After Breaking Hip
A. E. Tucker, 226 Second Avenue southeast, died Jan. 1, at the Sacred Heart hospital following an illness of a week. He broke his hip Christmas Day when visiting in the home of his daughter.
Funeral services were held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Luken funeral home. Rev. Ward Campbell officiated at the services. Burial was in the city cemetery. Pall bearers were the grandsons, Merlin Tucker, Eldon Tucker, Arnold Tucker, Archie Singer, Marvin Singer and Alfred Jenkins.
Archable (sic-Archibald) Ellis Tucker, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Eli Tucker, was born Dec. 25, 1871 in Appanoose county near Centerville, Iowa.
He came to Plymouth county in 1886 and spent his entire life here. He farmed in Stanton and Washington twps. In 1943 he retired and they moved to LeMars.
He was married to Minnie Niswanger and she died in 1895. Feb. 12, 1901, he married Maude Redmond (sic--Redmon).
The survivors, besides his wife, are his son, Elmer Tucker of Sioux City, and one daughter, Mrs. Lucille Singer of Merrill. Also five brothers, A. A. Tucker, Madison, S. D.; Pearl Tucker, Akron; George Tucker, Sioux City; Clarence Tucker, Alcester, S. D., and Charles Tucker, LeMars.
Five sisters: Mrs. T. B. Byrne, LeMars; Mrs. Mamie Rosell (sic--Rozell), Akron; Mrs. Walter Harvey, Marcus; Mrs. Dan Royer and Mrs. Len Jenkins, Winnebago, Minn. Eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
