Joe Barger, 86, of Bozeman, Mont., died Tuesday, July 3, 2007, at his home.

Joe was born March 22, 1921, in Madison, S.D., the son of J.H. and Martha (Becker) Barger.

He was a member of the South Dakota National Guard and a veteran of World War II.

After being a transmission superintendent for Northwest Iowa Power Coop in Le Mars for 31 years, he and his wife, Dorothy, retired to Fairfield Bay, Ark., in 1984. They later moved to Arvada, Colo., and then Bozeman, Mont.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy (Elmore) Barger of Bozeman, Mont.; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Paul Tone of Frederick, Colo., and Bozeman, Mont.; two grandsons, Chris Tone and his wife, Stacy and Chad Tone and his wife, Kathie; one great-grandson; two great-granddaughters; one brother, Bill Barger; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and one sister.

Graveside service and burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, in Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. A family gathering and lunch will follow at the Family Table Restuarant in Le Mars.
